by | Mar 14, 2025 | Nutrition, Recipes

In our opinion, on St. Patrick’s Day, everyone has a little Irish in them, even our animals. ☘️ And one of the things most people associate with this green holiday is green beer!

But is this something you should share with your pup? If it’s a pet-friendly green beer for dogs it is!

And we’ve got the perfect recipe for a little fun to celebrate today.

But first…

Can Dogs Drink Beer?

St. Patrick’s Day is a time for celebration, and while you might be tempted to share a cold one with your furry best friend, regular beer is a no-go for dogs.

Alcohol, in general, is not a good idea. At certain levels, it can lead to serious health issues like vomiting, diarrhea, breathing difficulties, and even dangerous drops in blood sugar and body temperature. Hops, which are found in many beers, can also be toxic to dogs, potentially leading to a life-threatening condition called malignant hyperthermia.

Of course, the level of concern depends on the size and health of your animal and the type of alcohol. A smaller amount of alcohol would be considered more dangerous than for larger breeds. And hard liquor, wine, and craft beer contain higher alcohol levels than lite beer.

Still, no matter the type of libation or size of your adored beast, while you enjoy your festive drink, resist the temptation to share. Instead, let’s mix up a safe and healthy alternative for your pup!

Recipe for Green Beer for Dogs

This fun, St. Paddy’s Day-inspired drink will let your pup join in on the celebration, without any of the risks! This “green beer” is made with dog-safe ingredients and is packed with nutrients. So it’s not only fun and delicious, it’s healthy for your pup too!

If you really want this to look like beer, you can strain the spinach, but we leave it in!

Quick Tip: For a little extra green and to up the health benefits, add some Phyto Synergy to the bowl too! It’s whole food nutrition, packed with antioxidants, that’s easily absorbed by the body.
